Who is Banduk Marika?

Banduk Mamburra Marika AO (13 October 1954 – 12 July 2021) was an artist and printmaker from Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. She was a advocate of the Rirratjingu clan of the Yolngu people, whose normal land is Yalangbara. She was in addition to an environmental activist and leader, and the first Aboriginal person to serve upon the National Gallery of Australia’s board.
