Henryk Gotlib: life and works

Henryk Gotlib (10 January 1890 – 30 December 1966) was a Polish painter, draughtsman, printmaker, and writer, who established in England during World War II and made a significant contribution to liberal British art. He was profoundly influenced by Rembrandt, and the European Expressionist painters. Gotlib was a leading advocate of the Polish avant-garde ‘Formist’ movement in the interwar Poland.
