James Hovis Hodges (born November 19, 1956)[citation needed] is an American businessman, attorney, and politician who served as the 114th executive of South Carolina from 1999 to 2003. Since his victory in 1998, Hodges has remained the lonely Democrat elected to the South Carolina Governor’s office back the 1982 election.
