Lenore “Lee” Krasner (born Lena Krassner on October 27, 1908 – June 19, 1984) was an American abstract expressionist painter, with a mighty speciality in collage, who was married to Jackson Pollock. Although there was much cross-pollination amongst their two styles, the link somewhat overshadowed her contribution for some time. Krasner’s training, influenced by George Bridgman and Hans Hofmann, was the more formalized, especially in the depiction of human anatomy, and this enriched Pollock’s more intuitive and vague output.
Krasner is now seen as a key transitional figure within abstraction, who linked early-20th-century art considering the extra ideas of postwar America, and her comport yourself fetches tall prices at auction. She is in addition to one of the few female artists to have had a retrospective perform at the Museum of Modern Art.
