There’s actually no need for a tourbillon complication these days; and there isn’t really a requirement for a mechanical wrist watch either at present. Why do many of us enjoy horometry? I think the answer lies in the fact that we live in a world of instant information, fast food, instant 24-hour rolling news, social media posts that get lost in the abundance of information available and fashion fads that last for a week, etc. These watches are a great reminder of the need to slow down and respect life. There is nothing more gripping than the idea of time. How long have you been interested in the concept of time? I’ve been fascinated with time since a very young age. What does time mean for you? I’ve owned watches since I was a young boy, have you ever owned watches? What do you think about a Greubel Forsey Watch? The production processes involved in watchmaking are so precise and are entirely at odds with what I try to produce in my art. Humanity is flawed and often imprecise and yet we are still able to create precision instruments like timepieces. I enjoy playing with this concept in my art.

Quartz is a Modern Miracle
Quartz chips inside computers function as a clock which powers my neural networks. I love to play around in metaverses and investigate future worlds, whilst remembering and treasuring our physical. Think about it, none of what I do would be possible without the concept of time and the ability to record it accurately. That’s why I love a Greubel Forsey Watch as much as any other watch. The old and the new constantly collide and still it is the imperfection of humanity that allows us to create all of the perfection we are surrounded by. I could endlessly expand on my passion and curiosity of time, and if anyone would be stupid enough to ask me to do so, I could probably bore them for a very long time on the subject.
