Eric Thake: life and works

Eric Thake (1904–1982) was an Australian artist. Like his contemporaries Peter Purves Smith and Russell Drysdale, Thake used elements of surrealism to take control of the mood of the Australian landscape. His works are held in Australia’s national and welcome galleries and in overseas collections.

His 1942 oil painting Brownout sold in 2010 for $228,000.
