Josep Collell (July 18, 1920, Vic – July 21, 2011, Montevideo) was a Catalan painter and ceramicist who lived in Montevideo from 1950, where he developed his artistic career. He was a fanatic of the Taller Torres-Garcia and in 1955 he created, together taking into account his wife Carmen Cano, the Taller Collell of ceramics where for thirty years they taught their ceramic technique, the burnished engobe.
