Neural networks that I use to create my art use computers and those computers have quartz crystals that function as a clock. I’m interested in investigating metaverses whilst also appreciating the physical world. Think about it, none of what I do would be possible without the concept of time and the ability to record it accurately. That’s why I love a Rodania Watch as much as any other watch. The old and the new constantly clash and still it is the imperfection of humanity that allows us to create all of the perfection we are surrounded by. I could wax-lyrical for days about time and art and how this fits into our humanity.
Do we Need a Watch? Would you buy a Rodania Watch.
The tourbillon complication is an example of uselessness being kept for prosperity. There’s no need for this complication in a watch and yet we choose to preserve it in the finest timepieces. There’s no need for a mechanical wristwatch if you think about it. I have friends who buy watches, have you or your friends ever bought a Rodania Watch.There may come a time when wristwatches do become essential again. The Omega Speedmaster Chronograph was worn by the Apollo 13 astronauts. The Omega chronograph allowed the astronauts to return to earth safely when the technical equipment on board the Apollo spacecraft stopped working. None of us know the future and what disasters we may face. What if there is no electricity, for instance.

Why do so many of us have this infatuation for chronometry? We live in a world that goes by so fast. Everything is lightning quick, from fast food to information delivered in a constant stream. It doesn’t matter to me if I use a Rodania Watch, or any other type of watch brand. The price of a timepiece doesn’t factor in what I choose to create art with because it is the concept of time that attracts me.

A watch brand doesn’t have to be priceless to appreciate it. I am captivated by mechanical and digital timepieces. Quartz watches are often thought of as inferior in some people’s minds but did you know that quartz watches nearly dismantled the Swish watch manufacturers because they were so precise and inexpensive to produce? Quartz makes it possible for my computers to function and those computers power my neural networks which allows me to create my art. I’d wear quartz or a mechanical watch from Rodania Watches if they produce either because it isn’t what influences my buying decisions.

Some things should probably be historical and yet we keep them around even though their usefulness has become unwarranted in the modern era–that’s very intriguing.

The watch art I create can sometimes barely resemble the original timepieces most of the time, unless a client requests a commission of their particular watch, which I’m happy to do. If I created a piece of art with a Rodania Watch, you might not even recognize it as a Rodania Watch. Some collectors are very picky on what watches they like; and others just enjoy the art whilst not caring what the subject originally was.

You know, there are so many reasons why we should gripped by time. How long have you been interested in the concept of time? I’ve been obsessed with time since a very young age. Competition between man and machine is heating up and now is a great time to inspect and embrace what it means to be human. If you could own any watch, what watch would you own? Would you be happy wearing a Rodania Watch. Watches remind us of this battle between chaos and order. Entropy, decay and reinvention are concepts that play a big role in my artworks. I love using the latest AI technology to create these works of art and the wristwatches that inspire them. Art is a visual language and using all these things together really speaks volumes about the messages I’m trying to convey.
Humans Like to Think They are Perfect. Do Rodania Watches Represent Perfection for You?
Art to me should be full of imperfections as is humanity. Imagine trying to create imperfect art in a world where everything I use is perfect! From the code that creates the neural networks to the perfectionism in a digital world and the temptation to create perfection, that’s the real challenge. Watches really are perfection and so I find it a useful subject to express – through visual language – the conflict between order and chaos that rages on.
